Why "Portolane"
A portolan is a navigational chart used by mariners centuries before satellite positioning — built from compass bearings and observed distances between known ports, plotted as straight rhumb lines across open water. It was not a guess. It was a dependable course, drawn only from what had actually been measured.
We chose the name because it describes the discipline we bring to analytics. We do not start from a technology platform and hope a use case appears. We start from the operating reality a business can verify — its data, its process, its decisions — and chart a course outward from there.
